2. Decrease your sugar and white flour. Eating a large amount of sugar and processed white flour will increase your blood sugar and cause surges of insulin to be released. This surge of insulin causes your body to crave sugar and those complex carbohydrates that will raise your blood sugar levels back up and you can see how this may start a negative cycle of overeating. Insulin is a storage hormone that can cause your body to store fat which is just the opposite of what you want.

3. Increase your fruit and vegetable intake. The more fruits and vegetables that you eat the less room you have in your diet for other, less healthy foods. Fruits and vegetables are full of nutrients and low in calories and fat. They are a great addition to any meal, and make for great snacks as well.

4. Keep your protein lean. Instead of eating a lot of fatty red meat, eat lean protein such as fish, chicken, turkey, beans, and whole grains. These sources of protein are healthy are lower in calories and fat as well.
