If you are considering buying a running machine it may be worthwhile to get a treadmill mat at the same time. Treadmill floor mats are relatively inexpensive. Although your outlay on the machine may be large and you feel you don’t want to commit more cash to the deal, a treadmill mat can bring some useful benefits that you might otherwise miss.
Protect flooring
When you are buying a treadmill your mainly interested in specifications. How much does it cost, how fast does it go, and what programmes has it got? It is easy to overlook how the treadmill is going to interact with your house and specifically what damage it might do to your flooring. A protective treadmill mat, usually a foamed PVC mat, will protect flooring. Tiled floors will be saved from becoming scratched and carpeted floors won’t become discolored from the burnt dust that often accumulates from electric motors or from lubricant oil that might disperse off the treadmill rollers.
Reduce noise
Whatever the manufacturer says, treadmills have a tendency to be noisier than anticipated. This is particularly true in a smaller room than the showroom you initially viewed the machine in or in a room with a tiled or concrete floor. Hardened floors bounce sound and small rooms contain sound without allowing the sound to dissipate. On top of that as treadmills get older and do a few miles joints inevitably loosen and the machine gets noisier. A cheap treadmill floor mat will help to keep noise levels low. Treadmill mats start at about a quarter of an inch thick and this thickness of PVC can easily reduce noise levels both from the electric motor and from the feet assembly on a treadmill.
Extend the life of your treadmill.
You may not have considered that a treadmill mat might actually extend the life of your treadmill. If you have hardened floors you can often note how dust collects under furniture. This dust, if the furniture is a treadmill, can be sucked into electric motors and rollers causing damage that means you have to go looking for spare parts sooner rather than later. If you have carpeted floors the fiber in the carpet can be sucked into the moving parts of the treadmill and roller causing damage. All this avoidable with a cheap treadmill floor mat and could extend the life of your treadmill by miles.
You can get a treadmill mat for as little as $30 so you can see, whether you have a tiled floor or a carpeted floor, a treadmill mat is one of those inexpensive items that could pay back with dividends in the long run.
