Every product manager in IT companies are focused on defining a software product roadmap in order to clearly set out the vision for the company with regard to product lines and markets. Here I’ll show you the simple process involved in bringing together different ideas for product lines, researching effective markets and pulling together all these ideas into good roadmap that can dynamically change over the years.
The first task for any product manager is to start a database or spreadsheet of all product ideas. Fable 2 was originally released on the Xbox console platform. Since its release, PC users have wondered when the game will be ported over to the PC. But with the release of Fable 3 in 2010 and its impending PC version release in 2011, fans have been left to wonder if there will ever be a Fable 2 for PC release date?
The original Fable game was released to much fanfare and success on the console platform. It had so much success in fact that the developer decided to capitalize on it and port the game over to the PC platform. Eventually Fable 2 was released and even later a third edition of the game, Fable 3, was released. All three of the games were initially released on the console platform, but only the first and the third have a PC version of the game.
So why doesn’t Fable 2 have a PC version to go with the console version? Lionhead Studios stated that after Fable 2 came out on the Xbox platform, they were almost going to be forced to create a PC version due to its success. But in 2009 a Lionhead development team member indicated that the team and company had no plans of working on a PC port of the sequel.
If Fable never releases a PC version of the second game in the series, it wouldn’t be the first successful game series to abandon a platform mid-series. The Gears of War franchise was originally released on a console system. Due to its success, they ported the original game over to the PC. But when Gears of War 2 came out, Epic stated that they did not intend to port the sequel over to the PC.
This leads this writer, and many fans, to deduce that Fable 2 will most likely never have a PC version of the game. If we haven’t heard of a Fable 2 PC release date by now then there probably will never be one. The development team would be smart to move forward in the series and work on the fourth incarnation of the game, rather than go backwards.
