Read about the Full Practice Success Series MassagePROFIT.com completed in the spring of 2007:

In February through May of 2007, Melanie Rubin, owner and principal of MassagePROFIT.com, offered a series of 4, 4-hour workshops for massage therapists and other wellness professionals on building and managing their practices effectively for personal fulfillment, service to others, and financial success. Participants in the 4-session series received a certificate documenting continuing education hours completed. This program provided credit toward the bi-annual continuing education requirement for re-licensure for massage therapists in the state of New Mexico.

The 4-hour workshops met once a month for four months in two sections, for a total of 16 hours/section. This series was also an excellent opportunity for wellness practitioners to build community with their colleagues. Participants worked in small “Success Groups” throughout the series to provide support for each other and learn from their peers’ diverse experience.

What follows is the description for the four sessions in the series:

  • February 5 & 8, 2007: Get off to a Good Start – Your Beliefs and Vision
    This session focused on beliefs about money; where you are starting with your practice (what's going well, what you want to change); your vision for the future of your practice as it fits with your life (where you want to go); and the creation of an action/business plan.It helped practitioners clarify their attitudes toward money to facilitate clear, direct, and ethical communications with clients around financial transactions.

  • March 5 & 8, 2007: Put Yourself in Your Clients’ Shoes – The Client Journey from A to Z
    Effective marketing is about everything your client experiences when they come in contact with you and your business. Develop an in-depth awareness of what your clients want and need throughout their Client Journey with you and develop strategies for consistently exceeding your clients’ expectations. Learn how to have clear, ethical communications with your clients at every step in the client-practitioner relationship: before they come in for a session, during the session, and in the follow up after a session.

  • April 9 & April 12, 2007: Specific Marketing Techniques for a Full Practice
    Discover techniques for creating business cards and flyers that sing to prospective clients, generating new business through networking, and becoming a public speaker. You will learn how to create a “marketing funnel” that continuously feeds your business growth. Become crystal clear about how to market your massage practice in a way that is ethical as well as effective.

  • May 7 & 10, 2007: Simple Money Management and Administration
    Participants will learn bookkeeping strategies for sanity and success and recordkeeping strategies for simplicity and efficiency. Emphasis will be placed on ethical as well as efficient management of finances and customer records. Participants will also enjoy closing presentations by their colleagues, and will plan next steps in their business growth after the workshop series ends.
