Speaking, Seminars, and Teleclasses
MassagePROFIT.com develops and delivers customized seminars and continuing education programs for massage schools and massage therapists on topics related to business success. Melanie Rubin is also available as a public speaker for conferences and events of interest to massage therapists, school administrators, and others in the field of massage. Workshops, classes, and seminars are offered on-site at school or other host locations, or over the phone, in a teleclass format. Many of these programs help therapists fulfill their continuing education credit requirements. Others are designed to assist school staff and faculty at growing their skills in doing their jobs. Teleclasses work very well for groups of up to about 20 people. Typically, participants receive an agenda and class materials by email or regular mail before the class. Then they simply dial into a specific phone number (called a “bridge line”) at a designated time and are all on the call able to speak with each other. The classes are organized, easy to follow, and highly interactive, with MassagePROFIT.com facilitating the call, and everyone observing the protocol of giving their name each time before they speak. This technology is simple to arrange and free or inexpensive to use depending on the needs for the class. It's a great way to offer continuing education programs on certain topics with very little overhead.

For situations where computer technology and a telephone line are both readily available to each participant, distance education classes can be conducted in a “webinar” format. In this case, each participant is dialed into a bridge telephone line where they can listen and speak with both the instructor and each other at the same time as they are logged into a virtual “classroom” on their computers. In this “virtual classroom” they see simultaneously, in different windows on each of their computer screens: the instructor on-camera; presentation notes; and a chat area where they can converse with classmates and the instructor during the presentation if they have comments or questions that will interrupt the flow of the presentation.
